Heading up Paarl Rock

Having lived in Paarl in the Western Cape for almost a year (now based in Cape Town), it was finally time to head up Paarl Rock. Some call it the Ayer’s Rock of South Africa, which is perhaps a bit too grandiose of a title, but it is nonetheless an otherwordly experience to hike up to the top. These pictures are from my trip to the top on a cold, blustery winter’s day.

  1. I really love the colour photograph. It is so rich, textured and moody. How did you get this effect? Do you mind sharing? 🙂

  2. Thanks. I was experimenting in Camera Raw ( before opening the image in Photoshop). I am not sure whether you shoot .raw with your camera? But it opens up a lot of options before you even get to Photoshop.
Would be glad to go over it with you sometime.
